Since 2005, Extend-A-Family has focused on providing more programs
and services to families who have children with Autism Spectrum
Disorder. Our
experienced program staff are graduates from various College and
University Programs including the Autism Behavioural Science Program
at St. Lawrence College.
ASD Saturday
Respite Program
Fully funded by the Ministry of Children and Youth, this program is
for children who have severe Autism.
There is a program for children 6 – 11 and one for children
12 – 17. The program
runs on designated Saturdays from 10 am – 4 pm and includes
individualized activities and an afternoon group swim.
Saturday Teen
Social for Children with Asperger’s
Funded by the Ministry of Children and Youth, this program is for
teens 13 – 17. The
program focuses on developing social skills and relationships.
Teens take an active role in planning group activities which
may include cooperative board games, computer gaming, trips to the
Climbing Gym, Go-kart races, swimming, laser tag, paintball for
example.
School Year
Programs
Children with ASD are welcome to attend any of our inclusive school
year programs. Some find
it difficult to function in a busy program environment, and can be
supported in a more sensory-friendly environment.

Summer Camps
Over 45 children attend our summer camps.
Some attend our small ASD camp for children with severe
Autism, and may integrate with our other camps whenever possible,
while others fully participate in our Integrated Summer Camp.
