Extend-A-Family Kingston has an amazing team working to provide support and services to individuals with a disability and their families. Our staff is experienced, and invested in the success of program participants

Maria Cordeiro
Manager of Community Services

Maria has been employed at Extend-A-Family Kingston since 2004; she started as Family Support Coordinator and was promoted to the Manager of Community Services.

Maria’s first involvement with the agency was when her daughter Amy began attending the summer camp in 1996.  Amy enjoyed attending the programs for many years and they were instrumental to her social and life skill development. Therefore, Maria has a parent’s understanding of the relevance and meaning of our programs and services to the families we support. 

Maria is a life long learner. She is an alumnus of both St. Lawrence College and Queen’s University with a diploma in Laboratory Science Technology, an Honours BA in Sociology, as well as a Masters of Public Administration. She enjoys attending various workshops and conferences to continue to foster her learning and skill development. 

Megan Taylor                                                                                                          Coordinator of Day Services

Megan began working at Extend-A-Family Kingston as the Coordinator of Day Service in November of 2017.

Megan has degrees in both Psychology and Education and has been working with children for 18 years. She transferred from teaching to project management in the not-for-profit sector 7 years ago and has enjoyed every second of it. Megan believes it is rewarding and humbling to be a part of caring for and providing support to people’s children.

While Ian was attending Western University for his Bachelor of Medical Sciences, he worked at Extend-A-Family as a camp counsellor. Ian has now been with us for 6 years and is a Community Coach and Liaison. Ian loves the energetic and fun filled atmosphere at EAF and believes that it is the most rewarding job he has ever had. Ian has a passion for science and music, and shares this passion and knowledge with our clients.

Peter Hudson

Peter graduated from Carleton University with a Bachelor of Arts degree, he then attended Lakehead University where he obtained his Bachelor of Education. Peter started at Extend-A-Family as a student, working during the summers as a camp counselor; he was drawn back every year because of the rewarding and meaningful work. Peter is now a Community Coach and Liaison, and has been part of the Extend-A-Family team for 9 years.

During Melissa's third year of studies in the Honour Bachelor of Behavioural Psychology at St. Lawrence College, she did her practicum at Extend-A-Family. Melissa was hired and joined the EAF team as a camp counsellor in the Adult Summer Camp Program. Throughout her time at Extend-A-Family, Melissa has worked with Many participants to increase their physical activity, life skills, social skills and community integration. In addition Melissa always enjoys coaching and mentoring the many staff, both old and new on the EAF team.

Samantha started her post-secondary education in the Early Childhood Education Program, then made the switch to the Social Service Worker Program. As part of her course at Lawrence College, Samantha started a placement at Extend-A-Family Kingston.What started out as a placement soon turned in to something more, something that Samantha loves and looks forward to, something that challenges her, and is so rewarding that she couldn’t imagine not being part of the organization and daily excitement. And that’s why after almost 10 years, you’ll still find Samantha supporting families and participants here at Extend-A-Family.
